Wine Gums

?

Wine Gums are probably my favourite gummy that I don’t really buy that often. I don’t know why I don’t buy them, but the fact that it’s taken me so many years to write this review says a lot. I really like these particular Wine Gums, and just about every kind of Wine Gum I’ve ever tasted. I like the texture, flavour, and almost every single aspect of this candy, yet I probably will not eat another one of these for another few years. I really don’t know why this is the case, but it just always seems to happen.

I feel like the really chewy texture of these gummies should turn me off. After eating any more than 10 of them my jaw starts to cramp up. I just feel like that challenging chew is just so satisfying. It may be difficult, but the reward is so great. Maybe these would be better if they got a bit softer after you chewed them up a bit, but frankly it might ruin them as well.

Flavour wise is where these gummies really shine. It’s hard to describe the flavour, but fruity is where I’d start. There is no doubt that these are fruit flavoured, but there’s something a little special about that fruit flavour. It might be a slight tart flavour, and it might be that the fruit flavour is just a little off. I’m assuming that this is why they call these “wine” gums. I feel like they’re going for a slightly wine like flavour. It’s got that nice fruity flavour of wine, without the alcohol burn. Sure there’s not actual alcohol in them either, which some might see as a disadvantage, but I personally like that these take one of the great things about wine and make it shine.

One last note about these is the black coloured Wine Gums. Normally I don’t like most black gummy candy, but there’s a very specific reason and that’s because I don’t like licorice candies very much. The black gummies in Wine Gums on the other hand are not licorice, they appear to be some kind of berry flavour. In a rare turn of events, this berry flavour happens to be my favourite flavour of Wine Gum.
