I don’t think you’d buy a package of gummy sausages unless you were really curious about how they might pull it off. I know that before opening the package I was wondering how realistic they might be, and what flavour they might be (I don’t know since I can’t read most of the writing on the package). When you feel the package you quickly learn that these aren’t just a bunch of miniature tubes, there are only three sausages in this bag, and they’re pretty big.
One curious thing I noticed about the package is what appears to be a warning about what looks like small metal rings at the end of each sausage. I’ll tell you now, this is the biggest problem with this candy. When you think of sausages, you think about some kind of filling (most of the time meat), in an edible tube (often made of things you don’t want to know about). These are tubes, and they are filled with something, but the tubes don’t appear to be edible. They’re just plastic tubes with small metal rings on each end closing them up.
The contents of the tubes is a strawberry flavoured, jelly substance. It’s not really super impressive in either tastes or texture, pretty average. The thing I didn’t like about these is how hard it was to remove the metal rings in order to get to the filling in the plastic. I tried for a while with my fingers, but eventually had to resort to using scissors. It was also a bit of a pain to squeeze the contents out of the tube after cutting off one end. It was a lot of work for a really mediocre gummy treat.
There’s a few ways you could improve this treat, a lot. First and foremost, make sure that you can eat every single part of this treat, no plastic package and most certainly no metal clamps. Secondly, make it feel more like a real sausage, offer up some chunks of white gummies with a slightly different texture throughout the sausage. It might even be fun if the white chunks had a different flavour too. At this point all I can say is that this is a basic fairly boring candy that due to the fact that it contains small metal pieces (on purpose) you’ll probably never see these for sale anywhere in most of Europe and North America.
