There's just something really satisfying about biting into a gummy with a liquid centre. In fact, I defy you to find any sweet candy that can't be improved with a liquid centre. I can't explain the joy you get when you bite into a treat and suddenly your month is full of liquid... That may have come out wrong. I think it's the perfect way to give your candy a contrast that is almost always noticeable. While texturally liquid centers are a great feature, some are better than others.
If you want a liquid centre to be perfect, you need more than just a different texture. Colour and flavour contrasts in a liquid filled candy can add even more fun to your candy experience. Unfortunately, these gummies really lacked when it came to the flavour difference between the liquid center and the outside gummy. In fact, I was almost halfway through eating these before I noticed on the package that the liquid centers are supposed to have contrasting flavours.
I think this had something to do with the quality of the flavorings. While the package says it's made with real fruit juice, the fruit favours didn't taste very real at all. Because of this, I had a hard enough time trying to figure out what each gummy was supposed to taste like let alone the “different” centres. I also found that the liquid centre flavours were too similar to the gummies they were paired with. Had they chosen a liquid center that didn't taste anything like the gummy exterior it may have worked better.
I wouldn't say that these gummies were a failure, after all they tasted fine. I just think they could have been much cleverer with the choice of flavours.
