Few people know this, but Haribo invented the Gummy many years ago, and I mean before the 80's. According to my sources a man named Hans Riegel invented gummies in the 1920’s. It wasn't until the 80's that gummies made an impact on the North American candy market. Look at that, you thought you'd be reading a review and you learned something, pretty cool eh?
Haribo as long as I've known them have been a company with high quality treats, and this is no exception. It's nice to see a company with a good reputation with the drive to keep innovating. I love the fact that each colour of gummy really has a strong distinct flavour, and nothing too strange. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more flavours but having said that if this is what they do well why not keep it simple.
I am however not a big fan of that white stuff at the bottom of some gummies nowadays. I'm not really sure what it is, but it's a lot like Marshmallow and I don't think it works. It does make the treat look kind of cool, but for me it detracts from the texture and does nothing for the flavour.
