Gummy Pig

?

I'm the last person to complain about the shape of a gummy, unless the shape makes the gummy difficult to eat. What I do have a problem with is creative flavours in the gummy world. Even worse is when the creative shape gives a great opportunity for a creative flavour. I'm sure that you've figured out by now that I'm hinting at the idea of pork flavoured gummy pigs. I'm not talking about a pork chop flavour, but a sweet maple or candied bacon flavour would work really well.

These particular pigs are some kind of generic fruit flavour. It's hard to pin it down exactly, but if I have to call it something, I'll say strawberry. The only connection I can make with strawberries and pigs is that they're both kind of pink. That seems pretty weak to me as a connection.

While the strawberry flavour is OK, I'm not really a big fan of the texture. This kind of gummy is best described as a cross between regular gummies and marshmallows. Another way to look at it is to think of a really chewy marshmallow. Seeing as I’m not a huge marshmallow fan, you can imagine that I really don’t like the idea of a marshmallow that takes even longer to finish.

It's a fine looking pig, OK flavour, and a tolerable texture. This treat could have been excellent, and all it needed was a little bacon.
