Chocolate Covered Jujubes

?

There’s a bit of a game that you’re playing when you buy these Chocolate Covered Jujubes. There’s no way to know what flavour of jujube you might be biting into, and that can be good or bad. It mainly depends on how you feel about the flavours of jujubes available. From what I could tell there’s nothing particular about these jujubes, and they seem to come in the common flavours that I know jujubes to come in. This happens to include licorice, a flavour of jujube that I traditionally don’t like. While I tried everything I could to not randomly scoop one up when I bought these, I did end up getting one.

The good news is that I actually didn’t hate the chocolate covered licorice jujube as much as I thought I would. It could be that I’m finally gaining a taste for licorice, but more likely it’s the fact that licorice and chocolate actually make a pretty good pairing. I’d say that it’s my preferred way to eat licorice at this point in my life. It also helps that the quality of the chocolate is pretty good as well. This actually helped all of the jujubes I ate. While I do like jujubes, I think they’re actually better with chocolate.

The only jujube that seemed a little weird was the green one. It was weird because I couldn’t figure out what flavour it was. I thought I tasted hints of mint, but it was so subtle that it could have been my imagination. The other fruit flavours were fine as well. The chocolate made it a little difficult to differentiate the flavours, but they all tasted pretty good.

It’s been a while since I’ve eaten a jujube, but I feel like they’re not as fancy without the chocolate coating. Maybe they’re a little fruitier, but not nearly as fancy.
