If you cross a marshmallow with a gummy, this is what you would get. This is not the first time I’ve sampled this style of gummy, in fact I’ve probably even tasted a similar gummy from this very company. It’s an odd style of gummy, because it mimics marshmallows so closely, but just a little differently. The question is are the differences improvements or detractions from a marshmallow. I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge marshmallow fan, with a few exceptions. So it’s pretty easy to improve on the marshmallow.

I can safely say that if you’re like me, and you’re not a huge marshmallow fan, than you will like these more. I can also safely say that if you’re not a huge marshmallow fan, there are much better gummies in this world for you to choose. Again, I’ve tasted a few gummies made by this very company that I would say are better. So the only reason people like me should probably be eating these gummies is if they’re bought by accident or a gift. The good news is that these are an improvement, so I didn’t totally hate them.

Some of the improvements are subtle, some are stronger. The subtle improvements comes from the texture. I would say that these are slightly less spongy than your average marshmallow. The weird spongy texture of a marshmallow in this case is a little more elastic. I’m not sure how much an improvement that might be as the rare occasions I do enjoy marshmallows (toasted or handmade) the marshmallows are often softer and more gooey.

The biggest improvement these have over regular marshmallows is the flavours. I find that most marshmallows have an odd dull vanilla flavour that just doesn’t sit right with me. These on the other hand have nice fruit flavours that while I’d have a hard time placing the fruit, tasted okay. That’s not totally true, the white and yellow coloured gummies are oddly bitter. I enjoy a bitter treat now and then, but it’s a really hard flavour to get right and these just didn’t do it. Fortunately the bitterness is subtle so it doesn’t ruin everything. The other two colours were fine and tasted of some kind of random fruits.
