I think we can all agree that the main point of these gummies is to make a candy that you can stack together and then eat. It’s kind of unique to do this with gummies as opposed to hard candy, since Lego (the blocks they’re paying homage to) are hard. I did take some time and build a little structure with my blocks, and they worked remarkably well. I feel like the sticky nature of gummies is what held it together most, but I did manage to stick the nubs into the holes in the bottom as well. It was also fun to eat a gummy wall of blocks, my kitchen was transformed into a gummy city and I was the Godzilla ready to destroy and eat all the block buildings.
There’s no denying that this candy works as a toy, but how about as a candy? I really like the very jelly texture and look of these blocks. They both look great and the texture is very fun to chew on. Colour wise I was a little disappointed, but only by one particular colour, blue. The yellow, red and green were bright and fun, but the blue was more of a brown colour that really looked dull compared to the others. If you look on the package I can tell you that the blue sample looks nothing like the actual blocks.
Flavour wise I was both happy and a little disappointed. They taste pretty good, a nice fruity flavour that works well with gummies. The problem was in the different colours matching the flavour they were supposed to represent. Actually, I had a hard time telling them apart at all. For the most part they all tasted the same, except when I would load a few of the same flavour in my mouth at once, and only for a brief moment would I taste a difference. I really feel like the bold colours and cool designs should have had the bold flavours to match.
I like the idea of making creative choices in your gummy design. I normally complain that the flavour has to match the design, but in this case I would say that bright coloured blocks are fine in fruity flavours. These are a good idea and fairly well executed, I just feel like the flavour could have been a little stronger.
