Vraiment Bon "Praliné Spécial"

Vraiment Bon

I’m a little bit torn about these chocolates. It’s a very fine chocolate, it tastes great and is obviously made with care. The problem is that I feel like the makers of this chocolate know that. I acquired this chocolate under somewhat strange circumstances. It was given to me as a gift at a very fancy store where they sold many high priced items. They didn’t sell food, except for these chocolates. I feel like these chocolates, while tasty, might be sold at a very high price for people who want extra fancy things.

Objectively, I guess what I’m saying is that these chocolate while tasting fine, seem to have a lack of heart. They’re very simple squares of chocolate, and in this case at least, the flavour isn’t really anything revolutionary. I should actually explain, these chocolates taste more than fine, they taste really great, and the texture is spectacular. The ratio of chocolate to hazelnut is amazing, and the chocolate melts perfectly away to reveal an almost liquid centre. These are really exceptional chocolates that I feel like anyone would enjoy eating them.

The problem is that there’s nothing really revolutionary about them, and they don’t really represent anything, other than fine chocolate. There’s no flavours that give it any particular origin, nothing really revolutionary about them at all. While I didn’t actually buy my chocolates, I know that they’re fairly expensive. I suppose if you want to be certain that you’re getting a good quality chocolate, the price is worth it, but it really shows me that money doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting something creative.

Maybe if I acquired this chocolate under different circumstances I would have thought differently about them. I suppose I would have thought that the makers understand how to use good quality ingredients and balanced the ratio of flavours perfectly. The problem is I feel like for the price of these, you better be getting something perfectly made, however these where pricey enough that maybe you should have been getting something more.
