There’s a couple of things I want to talk about the package before I move on. First I want to compliment and complain about the fact that this box of Raisinets is sealed in plastic. I like that the people making these feel so strongly about freshness that they feel it’s important to encapsulate the entire box in plastic. My complaint is that the plastic is actually pretty hard to pull off and involved me using a pair of scissors. Not a big deal in my house, but if I was eating these on the go it would have been problematic. A small pull tab would solve this problem entirely. My second comment about the package is the words “whole fruit” marked on the front of the box. There are a few companies that make chocolate covered raisins, and not once have I ran into a company that chops up their raisins for any reason. It’s a weird thing to brag about is all I’m saying.

As for the candy itself, it pretty much delivers on what it promises, there’s chocolate covered raisins in the box. I wouldn’t say that these are the worst chocolate covered raisins I’ve ever eaten, but they’re not the best either. The main flaws I find with these Raisinets is the amount and quality of the chocolate. I would say that the quality of the chocolate is pretty average. It’s very shiny, but doesn’t melt to the touch. While some might consider this an advantage, I like a chocolate that melts at body temperature. I also found that the chocolate coating was kind of thin. It was evenly coating all the raisins which is a plus, but I feel like it could have used a little more chocolate all around.

I guess my other complaint is one that I’ve not noticed with other chocolate covered raisins, but I did in this case, and that’s conjoined raisins. I found that there were several raisins in my box that were connected with each other. It really isn’t the raisin that are connecting, it’s the chocolate on the outside. I even had one candy that was make up of four chocolate covered raisins in a row. For some reason I really didn’t like this at all.
