I’ve never fell in love with a sweet potato snack. I feel like the flavour is original and I’ve never hated a sweet potato snack either. The better sweet potato snacks that I’ve had are often made with the sweet potato and contain almost entirely sweet potato. For example, if you bake a sweet potato and cover it with sugar it’s great. These sweet potato snacks on the other hand are fine, but they just seem a little bit off. There’s something about them that make them taste different than just eating a sweet potato. I should also mention that I actually like the flavour of many tubers and roots. I’ve been known to eat french fires with nothing on them at all, and I really just like boiled carrots with nothing on them.

I think the thing about these, and some other sweet potato snacks is they have some kind of perfumy flavour. It’s not exactly as strong as a rose water, but it certainly has a bit of a floral flavour. It’s not that hate this flavour, I just don’t think it represents or works well with the sweet potato. To me a sweet potato is a starchy flavour with a sweet aftertaste. You can add other flavours like vanilla or cinnamon, but if you try and enhance it, it turns perfumy, or this is just the fake flavour for sweet potatoes that most candy companies choose for some reason.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate these Pretz at all. I very much enjoyed crunching them after dinner tonight. They weren’t too sweet and the crunchy texture was right on. I would say if you’re looking for something between a cookie and cracker, these are perfect. There is a slight floral flavour, but it’s fairly subtle and doesn’t ruin the snack at all.

They’re also purple, which to me is a great colour for a snack. I have a slight rule that I follow when choosing candy or snacks. If any of my choices are purple, it’s almost always my first choice. While purple treats aren’t always the best, they’re always interesting. These continue to prove just that, they’re not the best cookie or cracker stick I’ve ever eaten, but they are interesting.
