If I was to eat this candy blindfolded, I’d say they’re a fine strawberry treat. Depending on how much you like strawberry gummies, this could be a good or bad thing. Obviously if you love strawberry gummy treats you’ll be very happy. The flavour isn’t that realistic, it’s that common fake strawberry flavour that most candies have. The flavour is actually pretty well balanced, it’s strong without being too much. Oddly that’s something I don’t often think about much with gummies, but for a very particular reason I’m kind of obsessed with the flavour of this particular gummy.
The reason I’m kind of obsessed with the flavour of this gummy is the same reason I’m kind of disappointed with this gummy. While I like strawberry gummy candies (even if the strawberry flavour is fake), I kind of wished that this gummy might have had a more appropriate flavour. Maple flavoured treats are not that rare (particularly in Canada) and since these are maple leaf gummies it seemed like a logical flavour choice. I don’t think I’ve ever had a maple flavoured gummy before, but I’m pretty sure it would work.
I got these candies because I thought it a little patriotic (since I’m Canadian). I thought it might be a fun bonus review to post on Canada Day (which I did). While visually they really do fit that Canadian patriotic theme, flavour wise they could have gone a more Canadian direction.
