This might be one of the most complicated Kit Kat bar flavours that I've ever had to explain. I mean technically the name of this bar is very accurate to what you get, it's a popcorn flavoured Kit Kat bar. The thing that makes this bar complicated is that I'm pretty sure that there is no actual popcorn in this bar, yet the flavour is really spot on. I can't figure out where the flavour is coming from either, my guess is the wafers, or the cream between the wafers, but I'm not sure. The popcorn flavour sneaks up on you, and although you instantly know that there's something different about this Kit Kat bar, the true popcorn flavour takes a little while to set in.
I like this bar, but I think it's a little weird. I also might like it because it's weird, this bar reminds me a great deal of popcorn flavoured Jelly Bellies. What I can't figure out is why they went through all the trouble of making this bar popcorn flavoured, when simply using real popcorn would have been interesting as well. I'm not really complaining, I'm just wondering if the research and development people at Nestlé even considered making a Kit Kat bar with real pieces of popcorn inside it. Better still, I think it would have been really interesting to have popcorn that was Kit Kat flavoured. I think the flavour of a Kit Kat would work really well with the texture of popcorn, and we know from this bar that the flavours work together.
This is not my favourite Kit Kat bar by any means, but it really did fascinate me. I'm not sure how they got the flavour of popcorn into this bar, and I'm not sure why they didn't just use real popcorn. I would say that if you can get your hands on a Kit Kat Popcorn Flavour it's well worth it just for the strangeness of it alone
