I’m not a huge fan of white chocolate, I’ve mentioned it several times before. I’m also not a huge fan of Hershey’s chocolate, most of the time. The strange thing is, I’m actually pretty good about Hershey’s white chocolate, at least when it’s used with a few other ingredients. The Hershey’s Cookies and Cream bar is a perfect example, and so are these.
I approached these with a bit of caution. There are plenty of ways to mess up a cereal/candy crossover. While I’ve had a few okay crossover treats, I’ve also had a few that miss the mark entirely. The key is to have a snack that highlights both the cereal and the candy. In this case you get the powerful cinnamon flavour and crunch inspired by the cereal and the smooth chocolate from the from the Hershey’s Kisses. In some ways the white chocolate also replaces the milk that you’d be pouring on the cereal.
This is by no means a perfect treat, most notably the chocolate could have been a little smoother. While it wasn’t bad, but I think a smoother chocolate would have felt more like milk and would have worked better with the cereal theme. There’s also the crunchy bits, the package describes them as “graham flavoured bits”. I’m a little curious why they didn’t use pieces of the cereal or even real graham crackers instead. These two factors didn’t ruin this treat, but I feel like it could have been better.
