Every single thing that I thought could go wrong with this candy bar did go wrong. While I feel like this bar could have been pretty good, there’s a lot of things that can go wrong with this blend of ingredients. It’s not to say that every single part of this bar went wrong, or that it’s even a bad bar. It’s an okay candy bar, but I’ve had much better bars before. I guess I just feel disappointed because I was able to predict exactly where this bar went wrong by looking at the package.
The first thing that went wrong with this bar involves the Reese’s Pieces. I really enjoy Reese’s Pieces on their own, even though I find it weird that they don’t have any chocolate. I really don’t understand why you would want to put them in a chocolate bar. The crunchy shell that works well when the candy is on its own, just gives a chocolate bar a weird gritty texture. The most fun feature of a Reese’s Piece is the colourful candy shell and the way it holds in the peanut butter, but in a bar that’s pretty much useless since you really can’t see the colourful shells because of the chocolate. The second thing to disappoint is the peanuts that are added for a reason I cannot figure out at all. The Reese’s Pieces provide plenty of peanut with their sweet peanut butter filling, so the peanuts area redundant. The fact that the peanuts are tiny crushed pieces of peanut only makes them even more useless.
The third and final thing I predicted is a little biased, but to put this diplomatically, I often find that Hershey’s chocolate is not to my liking. I find the chocolate to lack in flavour and have a really waxy texture.
I did enjoy sweet little peanut butter centres of each of the pieces I came across, however there wasn’t enough of them to really make this a good bar. Just filling the bar with Reese’s peanut butter would, and does, work much better. As it stands this bar has ingredients it doesn’t need, but also lacks the ingredients it needs to make it a better bar.
