Reese's Franken-Cup

If you’re interested in how these peanut butter cups taste and what kind of texture they have, all you have to do is read my regular Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup review. I say this because if you were to eat these peanut butter cups blindfolded, there would be absolutely no difference at all. I can’t say that I’m totally surprised about this, but I was kind of hopeful that it wouldn’t be the case. If you look on the package you get very mixed messages. The picture would indicate exactly what you get, a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup with a green chocolate bottom. The words on the package have a different message. Just below the word Franken-Cup are the words “Milk chocolate with green creme”.

This text on the bottom implied that there might be something more to these cups than just a layer of coloured chocolate, maybe a fun green slime or cream that would ooze out. The problem is that this is just not the case, the picture is %100 percent accurate. My problem then stems from the fact that the text on the package offers a lot, but he candy doesn’t deliver. I should also note that the name “Franken-Cup” tells a story as well. When I think about Frankensteined foods, I think about odd mashups of fun flavour and texture combinations. These cups did not deliver this at all either.

I guess I liked the colour of green they chose for the base, it was striking and contrasted the brown chocolate very well. I just don’t think that merits any kind of bonus points. It’s not like Reese’s hasn’t blended their cups with some pretty fun and unique flavours in the past either. It’s not that I don’t enjoy a classic Reese’s cup, I was just expecting something so much more interesting for this Halloween special edition.
