Cadbury Plant Bar "Salted Caramel"

Cadbury

I have a few issues with this bar that stem beyond how I felt about the quality of the chocolate. I will however start with the quality of the chocolate and then move on. I don’t really love this bar. I use the word “love” because in general I love Cadbury chocolate, but this I did not love. For obvious reasons (there’s not milk in this bar) it’s not as smooth or creamy as a traditional Cadbury chocolate bar. I suppose if you can’t/don’t drink milk this bar would be fine, but if you’re okay with dairy and you’ve had other Cadbury bars then you’ll be disappointed.

My second issue with this bar is the salted caramel, or more specifically the caramel. There is no caramel in this bar, there are instead chunks of toffee. I’m not sure what would be the scientific definition of caramel, but my opinion is that caramel is soft or even liquid and toffee is crunchy. This bar contains crunchy bits. I’d also argue that it’s a little too salty for my liking, but that’s a personal opinion and some might enjoy that.

My final complaint is something I just noticed while looking over the package to write this review. In the lower right hand corner of the package it says “may contain milk and other allergens”… wait what! I know this is a legal disclaimer because this bar was likely made in a factory that also made regular milk chocolate treats, but in some ways it kind of makes me mad. I assume this bar is designed for those with sever lactose intolerance or those who just want to cut milk out of their diet for various reasons. So the fact that it may contain milk kind of negates any reason for someone to eat this lesser quality bar and just get a regular Cadbury bar.
