Arguu Lollipop "Strawberry"

Candy Land

I wouldn’t call this lollipop perfect, but there are a few features about it that I kind of liked. The one thing that stuck out (literally) is the shape of this lollipop. The package shows this lollipop as being square, with rounded corners. I would describe the lollipop I got as almost paddle shaped. The bottom corners were similar to the package, but the top was completely rounded. For some reason the shape and the smallish size really fit well in my mouth. Lollipop shapes and sizes are often not really a thought for candy makers, as they’re often too big and occasionally too small. This one however was perfect and it remained comfortable the entire time.

Flavour was I liked the amount of flavour in this treat. The best bit was the amount of sour (citric acid) used in this lollipop, as I feel like strawberry should have a bit of a sour flavour. I was a little disappointed by the fake strawberry flavour, but the amount used was almost perfect. If they only used real strawberry instead of fake it could have been one of the best lollipops I’ve ever eaten flavour wise.

As I mentioned before, the lollipop on the package doesn’t really match what I got in shape. It also didn’t match in colour either. For some reason they depict the colour of this lollipop to be green and red, but in the package it’s yellow and red. For a strawberry themed treat I think green might be better than yellow, but to be honest I think all red would have been fine too. My guess is that they’re flexing their skills at making lollipops and just wanted to show off that they could make it two colours.

That takes me to the small detail mentioned on the package, “handmade”. I often have a hard time with candies labelled as handmade, but not this time. I’m fairly convinced by the odd shape and colour mistake that this was in fact made by human hands and not a machine. I’d like to believe that the fact that a human made it also accounts for the great balance of flavours and interesting shape. While this lollipop wasn’t perfect, it was perfectly fine.
