54% Royal Vanilla with Coconut Chocolate

Kanvela Chocolate

I’m a little confused with the name of this chocolate, it seems to imply a few things about this chocolate but doesn’t openly say it. The first thing I’m not sure about is how much vanilla is in this chocolate, or more to the point what ingredient is 54% of this chocolate bar made up of. I assume it’s the cocoa because the vanilla flavour isn’t that strong. I also assume that it’s not 54% coconut either, because the coconut flavour is also not that strong.

My guess is that it’s 54% cocoa and made with coconut milk instead of regular milk. If this is true then it’s very likely that this is a vegan chocolate bar. If this is in fact true, then I would say that this is a fairly good vegan chocolate bar. I might even go so far as to say that this is one of better vegan chocolate bars that I’ve ever tasted. I should mention that the package does not indicate that it’s vegan at all, so I could be totally wrong. If that’s a fact and it’s not vegan, I would describe this is a fairly average quality chocolate bar.

There is one bigger problem with this bar, and it’s the vanilla. I think I can taste it, but it seems to act more as a flavour adjuster than something that really adds to the bar. This is why I don’t suspect that 54% of this bar is vanilla. The fact that vanilla is in the name of the bar I would expect there to be more of a vanilla flavour. I’m not sure if that would make this bar any better, but at least it would be more accurate.

This is basically an average piece of a chocolate with a slightly different flavour (that could be vanilla) or it’s an above average vegan chocolate bar with a slightly different flavour. It’s well worth trying, but I think it would be more unique if it had a bit more vanilla.
