Apparently, I'm not only supposed to eat and enjoy this mint disk, but in some strange way I'm supposed to get a sensation. At least that’s what all of the advertising has implied to me over the years. Eating a York Peppermint Pattie is supposed to be more than just a tasty treat. I'm not really sure how that works, it's common for candies to claim they give you more than just a great tasting snack, but other than a sugar rush I'm not really sure how it works.
Chocolate and mint really are a flavour combination I wouldn't expect to work at all, but it actually works really well. This York Peppermint Pattie is also an example of how it works well. The chocolate is just the right flavour and the mint is just strong enough. There isn’t too much mint, and there isn’t too much chocolate. This bar has a really great balance that blends these two flavours together. Without that balance this treat really could have be a disaster, but that's not a problem at all.
I'm guessing the round flat shape is to keep the patty theme going, but to be honest I always feel like I'm getting ripped off when I buy these. I feel like they're a little too small to pay full chocolate bar price for. Sure, you don't necessarily pay for the quantity in a chocolate bar, sometimes there’s an experience factor as well. I just always feel like I can go for more York Peppermint Pattie after I'm finished one of these.
I guess that's both a problem and a compliment.
