I’m not the kind of person who normally consumes protein snacks or drinks. It’s probably fairly obvious by the fact that I run a website about candy, and not a website about the best exercises to get you in shape. Don’t get me wrong, I try to stay healthy, but I would hardly call myself in shape. This is all to say that I will not be judging these protein balls by how healthy they are, or how much protein they provide. I’m going to focus on taste and texture, and I’m not going to compare them to other protein snacks, but that’s likely because I can’t remember if I’ve ever even had one before.

The chocolate and candy coating are pretty much what you would expect, and similar to what you get with many other candy and chocolate coated treats. I would say the chocolate is fine, not the best I’ve ever had, but still good. The candy coating is also good enough, but nothing spectacular. The thing that makes this candy unique is the round, crunchy ball in the centre. I would describe it as something similar to Corn Pops cereal, or a sweet, dense cheese puff without the cheese.

The crunch is fairly satisfying, although it also feels a little like plastic. Flavour wise it doesn’t really add that much, maybe a little sweetness with a very slight corn flavour. I’ve had much better crunchy centres in this kind of snack, but this one is unique. While I didn’t love it, I found it fascinating enough that if you’re at all curious you should give it a try.

These are a fine treat, but taste wise it’s mostly just chocolate and texture wise it’s a little weird. If this helps you stay healthy, I think it could be considered a pretty big success, since it didn’t taste healthy at all.
