Sno Caps

Nestlé

This candy suffers from expectation problems, or at the very least what I was expecting when I opened them. I thought I was going to have little mountains of chocolate covered in white sprinkles. Very broadly, that is what these are, there is one detail however that was different than what I expected, and I didn't like it. These are little mountains covered in white sprinkles, but they were really small. I was expecting something about as big around as a dime at the base, but these were much smaller than that. In fact, each Sno Cap was exactly the same size as your average chocolate chip.

That’s the thing that soured me a little, the fact that these are simply chocolate chips with white sprinkles on them. For some reason this comes across as lazy in my mind. I couldn't help but think that I was just eating a box of chocolate chips while eating these, even though they also have a bunch of fun white sprinkles on top. While this certainly didn't ruin the treat for me, it did turn me off a little. This is the problem with these Sno Caps, I was expecting larger chocolate mountains and I got tiny chocolate hills (chips) instead.

The good thing is the chocolate chips were made from a fairly good semi sweet chocolate. The sprinkles didn't add anything to flavour of these, but the crunch was a nice texture feature. It's a simple candy concept, but it seems to work fairly well. On a second note, the package claims that they're "Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils", does anybody know what a Nonpareils is?
