So, what happens when the Candy Critic wants a break from the normal world of Candy? I'll tell you what: I walk into a shop that sells items that I do not understand. Then I take something off the shelf, pay for it, and eat it. Finally, I write about this near treat and hope that whatever it is I just ate was actually food. It’s happened a few times that I’ve picked something off the shelf and the person at the counter has had to explain to me that I shouldn’t eat it because it’s either a spice or for pets.
This particular treat called SEV is just such a snack. Sure, it's not really candy, but it is a treat; and as long as they can call Lucky Charms a cereal, I can call this candy. The best way to describe this treat is sort of like crushed Life cereal, only a little saltier. It doesn't have that overly sweet coating Life cereal has, and that's good. Instead there’s a nice subtle salty flavour that blends well with the almost corn like flavour.
The little sticks feel kind of funny when you crunch them because they kind of melt in your mouth as you eat them. This may, in fact, be the first not totally unhealthy treat I've ever reviewed, but what are you going to do?
