There’s a very important detail in the name of this bar that really makes it work. The “+” in the name of this bar is such an important detail. Reese’s could have chosen to make a bar that was peanut butter nougat, and that would have changed this bar entirely. Instead they decided to make a bar with both peanut butter and nougat, and it totally worked. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t really sure how the combination of these two ingredients would have worked, but as it turns out it’s a pretty good success.

One of the key reasons this bar worked is the ratio of nougat to peanut butter. When I first saw the depiction of the bar on the package I was a little worried. It seemed like there wasn’t going to be enough nougat to balance with the peanut butter. As it turns out this amount of nougat is perfect. The package is a pretty good representation of the bar and the bar worked well. I felt it was chewy, sweet and most definitely tasted like Reese’s peanut butter.

This take me to the one minor criticism I have about this bar, it’s maybe just a little too sweet. This comes from the fact it’s not only the nougat and chocolate that contain sugar, Reese’s peanut butter is also fairly sweet. I’m sure most people would be okay with this bar as is, but I can’t help but wonder if either a dark chocolate coating or less sweet peanut butter could make it better.

I really can’t complain too much about this bar. If you like the sweet Reese’s peanut butter then I think you’ll enjoy this bar.
