I don’t want to simply label this chocolate as bad, or not great, but objectively I didn’t really enjoy it that much. There are however a few things that I felt were creative about this treat, one in particular that I felt was revolutionary. The main thing that blew my mind was the what appeared to be rolled oats coating the outside of the chocolate. I don’t think I’ve ever seen rolled oats used as a coating for any candy before, but for the life of me I can’t figure out why. While I certainly don’t want rolled oats on every treat, I feel like it would really work well with certain treats. I also feel like a granola coating for fine chocolate would also work, it would give it a great crunch too.
The filling of this treat was also kind of unique in that there was much more filling than chocolate. I’m not really sure what the filling is supposed to be, but the brown creamy centre did give me a slight peanut aftertaste. I just feel like so many treats don’t celebrate their filling as much as this, so it was a nice surprise.
The down side of this treat was the quality of the chocolate and the weirdness of the filling. While the filling did have a slight peanut aftertaste, it was fairly bland and tasted a little musty as well. I don’t think that this chocolate was particularly old, I just think there was something in the filling that made it taste a little off. The chocolate could have been a higher quality as well, it was thin and fairly flavourless. It just seemed to hold together the oats on the outside and the weird peanut filling.
There could be something I’m missing from this candy, maybe to some it holds a certain amount of nostalgia. Objectively as someone who’s never seen a Zoryane Syalvo before I’m not a fan. I do appreciate the oats on the outside, but that wasn’t really enough to make this an amazing treat.
