Holy cow these things smell like blueberries, not real blueberries, but the fake candy blueberries. The flavour is pretty much the same as the smell, only not as strong. I highly doubt that there are any real berries in this at all, although there are little specs all over the white icing, which could be real blueberries, I guess.
Maybe that “10%” thing on the front of the box says that there's 10 percent real blueberries in this pack. That may not seem like much, but my guess is that 60 to 70 percent of this treat is the cookie stick, so 10 percent of 30 or 40 percent coating might be real blueberries. What I'm trying to say is, those specs might in fact be blueberries then.
While the crunch of the cookie is nice, what this treat needs to make is a little more authentic is the sour flavour of blueberries. There are some of us in the world that actually like their berries to have a slight tart taste. This tart taste is what gives many berries their character, and it balances the pure sweetness. This balance can work really well in the candy world as well, but it’s not very common and not in this Pocky Blueberry at all.
So other than the very confusing and sweet berry flavour, these have pretty much your standard crunch Pocky. That's not necessary a bad thing, but it's nothing that new and exciting.
