I've been a fan of Pocky for a long time now; it's one of the few treats that I enjoy the idea of alternative favours. I say this because the folks at Pocky deal with alternative flavour a little bit differently than most large candy companies. They don’t just slap a layer of caramel on it or anything that simple; with Pocky’s alternate varieties you get something a little more creative.
In this case, even though the idea of making a banana flavoured treat is fairly simple and been done about a million times, the folks at Pocky have taken on this challenge in creative way. Rather than simply changing the crunchy cookie covered in chocolate into a banana flavoured chocolate stick, they also re-decorated them with an intricate design. These cool stripes are a great addition to the Pocky design, and they look fantastic.
The banana flavour itself is ok, even though I'm not a big fan of fake banana flavours. It might have been a little better had they used real chunks of dried bananas (like banana chips) similar to their Almond Crush Pocky (with bits of almond on it). I guess what I'm saying is I really like the way these Pocky look, but the flavour could have been done a little more realistic. Real banana Pocky is something I would have enjoyed much more.
