I want to start this review by saying that I enjoyed this Oreo egg. I will however mention that I think it could be better, and it left me a little disappointed. It left me disappointed because it had the potential to be one of the most creative Oreo treats ever made, but it wasn't. The chocolate part of the egg was great, just like a Cadbury Creme Egg, but the filling was just OK. How could you turn this egg into one of the best Easter treats ever?
The key is in the filling. The filling in this egg is like a soft cookies and cream chocolate bar, almost a dense mouse texture with cookie crumbs. It also had a white chocolate flavour to the cream, not my favorite chocolate, but as far as white chocolate goes not bad. What would improve this filling greatly would be to take out the white chocolate, and use real Oreo cream instead. The egg would make for the perfect vessel for the softer cream, and although it would be a bit sweeter, it wouldn't be any worse than a Cadbury Creme Egg.
This could have been one of the first examples of an Oreo themed candy that actually used the whole cookie and not just the chocolate cookie. It would have been so much better tasting, and much more creative if they filled this egg with Oreo icing instead of white chocolate cream. I sure hope they consider this update for next year's version of this treat.
