The Oh Henry! is one of those classic Canadian candy bars. This is the kind of candy bar that no matter where you go in Canada, you'll probably find it. I’ve even seen the Oh Henry! in other parts of the world at candy specialty stores. So that means in some way it’s not only a bar that makes me feel like I’m at home, but it’s also a symbol (in candy form) of Canada for other people too.
The great thing about this bar is that it makes a great snack and one of the main features of this bar is the log in the center. I would go so far as to say that this fudge log in the center of the Oh Henry! bar is one of the best elements of any candy bar anywhere in the world. I once tried to peel all of the chocolate, caramel, and peanuts off the outside of an Oh Henry! bar, and what I discovered is that it's like eating only the cream in an Oreo cookie and throwing away the cookie. It tasted great, but it just didn’t feel like and Oh Henry! bar anymore. I learned then how important the balance of fudge, chocolate, caramel, and peanuts is needed to make this bar so good. While I love the fudge, the bar on a whole works even better. The only things I would say is that flavour wise I think the caramel (that’s generally around the peanuts) is there more as a tasty glue than a flavour, but it’s still an important element.
My concern with this bar is the quality of the nuts, maybe I just can't find a fresh one, but the nuts seem to be a little off on this bar, it's not that they're that bad they just seem a little stale. It’s just a slight dent, and maybe if I picked up a fresher bar it would be better.
