Nips "Creamy Tiramisu"

Jack 'n Jill

I really wish that Nips were a better candy. I’ve tasted a few other variations of Nips in the past, and they all suffer from the same thing, it’s just a low quality candy. The chocolate is waxy and the flavours aren’t that great. You could also argue that they’re not very original, but it might be a tough argument since so many candy companies make chocolate treats covered in a candy shell. There are even many that make variations on this format using fun flavours. M&Ms and British/Canadian Smarties are probably the most famous of this type of candy, and honestly when you compare M&Ms and Smarties to Nips, they’re just better candies quality wise.

This thing is, Nips makes flavours and varieties of this kind of candy that no one else does. As far as I know no one makes a tiramisu version of a chocolate with a candy coating. It’s a flavour that makes sense in this format since tiramisu has chocolate in it and the other flavours in this desert (mainly coffee) can easily be brought into a treat like this... sort of. In some ways this candy falters a little because it’s missing any sense of the lady fingers and cream of a tiramisu. These are actually the main ingredients in a tiramisu and the cream is even mentioned in the name of this particular treat.

What I’m saying is that I love that they tried to make a tiramisu flavoured Nips candy, but they didn’t really pull it off. It’s really just a regular chocolate Nips candy with a hint of coffee flavour. I feel like a better candy company could make a tiramisu version of chocolate covered in a candy shell, but no one else has tried. I’m conflicted, I like that they tried to make this treat but sad that they didn’t really make it very well. I guess my only hope is that the folks from M&Ms is reading this and they give it a shot.
