There is obviously a lot of thought put into these strange little pucks. The tea “flavour” is actually really spot on for Thai tea. If you’re unfamiliar, Thai style tea is a spiced tea often made with milk, it’s very similar to that tea you get when you order bubble tea with milk tea. They could have just made simple round pucks with no decoration, however each one is carefully decorated with the Moo Milk logo on one side and a cartoon cow on the other. These decorations are not only detailed, but carefully etched in as well. So the flavour and design is good, but what about the texture.
The texture is a real mixed bag, I would describe it as both boring and kind of weird. The boring aspect is the fact that it crunches like a chew-able vitamin. That’s not really surprising as they seem to advertise the many vitamins and minerals found in these candies on the package. The weird is the fact that after a few chews a strange film seems to cover your entire mouth. It comes on very suddenly and sticks around for a while after. Weird is how I describe it in the positive, unpleasant is probably a bit of a better description.
I wouldn’t say that the texture ruins your experience, but it does make me think a little bit before putting another one of these in my mouth. If you’re going to make a candy that has various health benefits, I question why you’d want to make it feel like you’re chewing on a pill. I thought the idea was to hide the feeling of eating something nutritious, not lean into it. Having said that, these did taste exactly like Thai tea, so maybe I’ll save the last few of them for a day when I’m craving a Thai tea but can’t get my hands on it.
