(Sung to the tune of Mary Mary but Run DMC) "Mary, Mary, why so yummy?.. Mary, Mary, in my tummy." I've always wanted to get a classic hip hop context into one of my reviews, and it's very appropriate with this treat. It's appropriate because this treat is in fact a classic (as an added fact it is also in my tummy). Apparently, the recipe for this treat hasn't changed in a very long time, but that's not the only reason it's a classic. It's also a classic because it truly has a taste that you would expect from a fine boxed chocolate.
Little bits of nuts (caramelized hazelnuts), smooth praline, and nice dark chocolate, are standards in the chocolate world. Although I've had this combination before, with this treat Mary Chocolate’s seems to have mastered it. I've said this before on this site, if you're going to do a classic treat, you should do it well. It’s important to not only have a great list of ingredients, you must have the perfect ratio of ingredients, and these ingredients must be high quality. The Mary is the best example I've ever tasted of making a classic treat well, in fact I'd say it's done it perfectly.
This treat is going to become my marker for classic chocolates, until I'm proven otherwise (and I hope I am) this chocolate will mark the highest achieved classic boxed chocolate levels of quality. It's nothing new, it's nothing innovative, but it's very tasty.
