This isn't the first time in my life that I've eaten a bar that claims to be "maple" flavoured. For the most part maple flavoured candy bars don't taste like maple at all, unless they have real maple in them, and that's extremely rare. This bar did not appear to contain any real maple, however unlike most "maple" flavoured bars, this one did taste like maple. In fact, the biggest fault of this bar is how much it tastes like maple.
The problem with this bar is that every single element tasted like maple, the chocolate, the nougat, and even the caramel. If I was making this bar, I would have probably just flavoured the caramel with a maple flavour, and left the chocolate and nougat to their traditional flavour. The problem with that is likely the bar wouldn't be maple enough. So, what I'm basically saying is that it appears to be impossible to make a perfectly balanced maple flavoured bar. Fortunately, this one errors on the side of too much, and I think that's the right way to go.
I'm really looking for a candy company to prove me wrong on the maple flavoured bar thing, but for now this is the most maple bar you'll find (without having any real maple).
