I figured that this candy was going to be one of two things. It was either going to be a hard, caramel flavoured candy like a Werther’s Orginal, or it was going to be what it actually is, a soft, chewy caramel candy. There really is nothing surprising about these at all. The texture is soft and chewy, the caramel flavour is fairly creamy and generally pretty yummy. It’s always hard writing reviews about this kind of treat, because once you know what kind of candy this is, there’s really not much to say about it.

I guess the one thing I might mention is the chocolate swirl in the centre of these chewy caramels doesn’t really do anything at all. I thought maybe there might be some kind of chocolate flavour, but I didn’t taste anything chocolate like at all. It’s not that the caramel flavour is particularly strong either, at least not strong enough to drowned out a chocolate flavour normally. I think if the chocolate was a little more obvious this might have been a more interesting and unique candy.

Just because this candy isn’t really interesting, it’s not that I wouldn’t recommend it. In fact I would really recommend you give these a try if you’re looking for a simple caramel treat. They’re soft enough that you can eat a lot of these before your jaw might hurt. The balance of sweet and creamy is great so they don’t come off as sickly sweet at all. I even like the small package these come in, it’s nice when a candy worries about portion control.

All around this is a fine treat that delivers everything it should. The only exception might be the fact that one might expect some kind of chocolate flavour because of the brown swirl in the middle. I can’t really complain about that too much though, because from what I can read on the package it’s not like chocolate was actually promised.
