I've been writing reviews for a while now, and I've been afraid of coming across a bar like this. For years now I've had a fear, the fear is that I would review a treat and give it perfect 5s (the highest score you can get in any category), then later I would find another version of the same treat that was even better. In other words, these Kit Kat Rubies tastes better than the original Kit Kat. This is easily the best tasting Kit Kat bar I've ever eaten in my life, and I've eaten lots of them. It's like taking a fine Rocher chocolate, using the best hazelnut filling, and blending it perfectly in the Kit Kat format.
Normally when I go on about a bar like this, in the bar scores perfectly in one particular category, then it falls short in other areas. This is the case with this bar, but only by a little bit. Texture wise I think this bar is also perfect. It may not be as perfect as the original Kit Kat bar, but it's so close that I'm going to give it a 5 anyways. Nestle managed to find the perfect balance of chocolate, hazelnut filling and wafers. It just felt really good to eat. It also tasted great, so there’s no marks off for that either.
So where does this bar lose marks? I'm going to go with Novelty. While it was a complete joy to eat, it wasn't really anything creative or fun. This is basically three small bars and nothing more. I should also mention that where I bought these, they were really expensive. I guess they're worth the high price, but for the price I paid not a value by any stretch.
Let me just make this clear, if you have the means to get one of these Kit Kat Rubies, do it. You won't regret it at all.
