Kit Kat "Ramune"

Nestlé

Before I even start with this treat, I should mention the fact that I don't really understand it. I should also mention that it's been a while since I've had a Ramune soda, so I don't know if I'll remember what it tastes like. I do remember the joy of pushing the marble through the bottle to open up the Ramune soda. I also remember the disappointment when the soda exploded on me and when I couldn't re-seal it because... well you just can't do it with Ramune. To help you better understand Ramune here is a brief description: Ramune is a clear soda that is kind of fruity flavoured. The gimmick with Ramune is to open it you have to push a marble that is jammed in the top down into a middle chamber thus allowing the fairly flavourless beverage up. Once the marble is jammed into the second chamber there is no way to bring it back up and reseal your soda.

Having bitten into this bar I think I'm having some Ramune soda flashbacks. It seems like it's pretty spot on as far as the flavour goes. For those that have never tried Ramune I would say that flavour is closest to Bubble Gum. They could easily re-market this Kit Kat bar in North America as bubble gum flavoured Kit Kat. So, I guess it's worth pondering if Ramune (or bubble gum) flavoured Kit Kats are really a good idea.

At first, I'm going to have to say yes. I say yes because it's a step out of the ordinary and I'm sure there are many kids and candy fanatics out there in the world that would love to try it. However, I don't think I'd want to eat a whole lot of these. The flavour would get annoying quick and the novelty is already wearing off and I've only eaten two small fingers. I’m just happy that my Ramune Kit Kat didn’t explode once I opened it, and if it did I could easily return it to it’s wrapper.
