I don’t really know what a whole wheat biscuit is. It’s not that I’ve never seen biscuits (or cookies) labelled as whole wheat, in fact I’ve eaten a few of them in my life. The problem I have is differentiating the difference between a whole wheat biscuit and a cracker. I’ve seen whole wheat biscuits that really stand right on the line between cookies and crackers. I feel like the main difference is the amount of sugar, and often these whole wheat biscuits are just a little sweet, but not too sweet.
This Kit Kat version of a whole wheat biscuit pushes a little bit more towards the cookie end of the spectrum, and I think that’s helped a lot because of the white chocolate coating that’s unmistakably sweet. This white chocolate coating really doesn’t give this Kit Kat bar any kind of wheat or even biscuit flavour or texture at all. The thing that makes this Kit Kat feel like a whole wheat biscuit is the wafers, as well as the cream between the wafers. The flavour and texture of these two elements gives you a feeling of biting into a whole wheat biscuit. It’s hard to tell how sweet these two elements might be on their own, but it feels like they’re less sweet tasting than they would be in a regular Kit Kat bar.
When you first bite into the bar it feels like you’re just eating a white chocolate Kit Kat, but after a few chews the flavour and texture of the wafers and cream really give you the feeling of eating a whole wheat biscuit. The question one might ask after is, why? I’m not sure that anyone is asking for a Kit Kat bar that tastes a little bit more nutritious. I’m not totally sure, but I seriously doubt this Kit Kat bar is actually any more nutritious than a regular one (prove me wrong). So other than the curiosity factor of eating a Kit Kat bar that tastes like health food, why would someone really want to eat one of these?
