Japanese Mixed Candy

?

The hard part about doing this review is the fact that there are about 8 or 9 different candies available in this package. I didn’t want to not review it and I don’t really have the patience to review each one at a time. So, I’m going to do 4 short reviews of the 4 coolest looking treat I found in this bag. I picked the coolest looking because this kind of treat is really designed to look good as well as taste good… or at least that’s what I hope.

First, I’ve decided to try out a white candy thing with black speckles. It’s sugary at least, but there’s something else to it. Almost a toasty type flavour. I think the little speckles are toasted sesame seeds and they seem to affect the flavour a very, very slight amount. Wait a minute, with a bit of a crunch it’s most definitely a sesame flavour, and it’s nice.

Second, I’m going for a brown and white square thing. It tastes a little different than the first one for sure. I think it’s a coffee flavour, but it’s not that strong yet. But it certainly gets stronger as you get through it. I’m not hot on coffee flavoured treats so this one probably won’t be my favourite.

Now I’m going for a 6-sided pink treat. I have to admit I’m a little nervous because I don’t really know what flavour pink might be. It seems to be a little flowery, maybe rose if I had to pick a flower. Rose water flavoured treats aren’t that rare in parts of the world and they can actually be pretty tasty. This treat is ok, but maybe a little too bitter. I’m not a big fan of this at all and I think I’d even rather have a coffee one over this candy.

The last one I’ve chosen because it seems to be the prettiest of all. I am however a little nervous about it after eating the pink candy with a gross flower like flavour. This one has a picture of a flower on it and it might be kind of gross. Yay, no flower flavour at all, in fact this one has proven to be the best one out of the four I’ve tried. I think flavour wise the best way to describe it would be vanilla. It’s a nice vanilla too; strong but not so much that I gag.

I really respect the fact that each candy had a different flavour; it only goes to show the quality of a treat when they take the time to individualize each one. Often when you make candies look this good it turns out to be great not only looks but taste as well.
