Probably your first question you’d have about this bar would be, how is it like lava. I think there might be a slight argument that this bar has a similarity to a very particular type of lava at a particular stage. My first thought was that maybe this bar might be spicy, but no. There’s also the fact that in some countries (Iceland included) licorice strength is tied to spiciness, but this bar has no licorice flavour either. Where one might argue that this bar is tied into lava is the fact that it’s very bumpy and might resemble some of the lava streams and fields one finds in Iceland. It seems like a stretch but could be possible.
If you take the odd lava theme away, you’re left with a light wafer bar covered in chocolate and rice crisps. After my first bite I thought that the wafer and crisps made the bar a little too light, but after a few more bites I actually got into it a bit. It is a very light and airy bar, but the crispiness of both the wafers and rice crisps was actually pretty good. We wafers and crisps also tasted pretty good too.
The chocolate was also distributed well both around the wafers and around the rice crisps. The milk chocolate was a decent quality, it melted perfectly on my fingers. While I can’t call this bar revolutionary, it was a decent enough treat for a wafer bar. The lava theme seemed to be more of a gimmick to sell bars to tourists in Iceland than an actual theme to the bar, but at least this bar that tourists ate wasn’t horrible.
