I have to admit that this review is a little biased towards a certain situation. The thing about this “situation” is that it’s probably a fairly common one for where this treat is available. The problem with this particular candy is that it has soften a great deal. It’s so soft that it’s stuck to the package and fallen off the stick. It has the consistency of a really sticky marshmallow, more than a taffy. This is likely because I happened to have stored mine in a place that was a little bit warm and humid. The reason why I don’t think it’s unfair to judge this treat after it’s been stored in a warm place is because this treat comes from Myanmar, a country that is often very hot and very humid. While I’m sure it’s often sold in stores with some climate control, I imagine that many kids (and some adults) eat them in warm humid places.
As I said before, this candy was a mess, it fell off the stick and stuck to the wrapper. I pretty much had to scrape it off the wrapper with my fingers and shove it in my mouth. It wasn’t easy to eat by any stretch of the imagination. Even after all this trouble, I still really liked the texture. I described it as marshmallow like earlier, but I wouldn’t say that it’s as soft as marshmallow, but more of a taffy texture. There is absolutely no issues about this taffy hurting your jaw, and that’s a good thing. I feel like this treat has to lose points because of the mess it was getting it unwrapped and in my mouth, but texture should not be where this loses points.
I also don’t think it should lose that many points on flavour either. The flavour is a very fake strawberry flavour, it’s not fancy, but I didn’t really expect that much from this treat. It’s not like it boasts itself as an all natural flavoured treat. In fact there’s zero writing on the package, other than the name. Even the flavour is only indicated by some strawberry drawings on the top of the wrapper. So the flavour isn’t amazing or innovative, but it’s fine enough.
This means the only place I can knock this treat down a bit is in novelty. The entire point of this treat, being on a stick, is totally lost because it’s too soft to actually stay on the stick. I had to wash my hands right after eating it, which would have been a serious issue if I wasn’t at home.
